Dato Victor Paut’s Voice Message in TikTok Video Is Malayan Propaganda in Disguise

 Thursday, 23 October 2025

Recently, a TikTok video featuring a recorded voice message by Dato Victor Paut surfaced online — a desperate attempt to smear Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan’s name and discredit his decades-long struggle for Sabah’s rights.

In the recording, Dato Victor claimed that Dr Jeffrey fought for the 20 Points, not MA63.

This is a textbook case of a strawman argument — a deliberate misrepresentation designed to fool voters by oversimplifying Dr Jeffrey’s cause.

What Victor and his handlers fail to understand — or deliberately choose to ignore — is that the 20 Points and MA63 are not separate issues.

In fact, the 20 Points are the DNA of MA63 — the very foundation upon which the Malaysia Agreement 1963 was built.

1️⃣ The 20 Points Are the DNA of MA63

Before Malaysia was formed in 1963, North Borneo (Sabah), Sarawak, Singapore, and Malaya held negotiations on the terms of forming a new federation.

Sabah, through its leaders and representatives, submitted 20 key conditions — now known as the 20 Points — as the basis upon which it agreed to join Malaysia.

These conditions were later incorporated into the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Federal Constitution through the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report.

In other words:

The 20 Points are the foundation; MA63 is the structure built upon it.

When Dr Jeffrey began advocating for the 20 Points decades ago, he was not rejecting MA63 — he was reviving the original spirit and terms that created Malaysia itself.

If not for his courage and persistence, MA63 would likely still be buried under decades of political silence.

2️⃣ Recycling Old Lies — Mahathir’s Script Brought Back to Life

In the same voice recording, Dato Victor also revived a long-debunked lie — one originally used by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the 1990s:

The false accusation that Dr Jeffrey had tried to hire mercenaries to take Sabah out of Malaysia.

That claim was pure fiction.

It was a manufactured excuse to justify Mahathir’s use of the Internal Security Act (ISA) — a draconian law that allowed imprisonment without trial.

When corruption charges against Dr Jeffrey failed to hold up, Mahathir turned to the ISA because it required no evidence and no courtroom.

So, they invented a Hollywood-style “mercenary plot” to make him appear as a traitor.

The idea that Dr Jeffrey — a civil servant and economist — could hire mercenaries to wage war against the Malaysian government is absurd and laughable.

It was simply propaganda — a convenient lie used to silence Sabah’s strongest voice for autonomy.

Today, Dato Victor Paut is merely echoing that same tired script — serving as a mouthpiece for his Malayan masters by repeating their old propaganda under a new platform.

3️⃣ “MA63 Can’t Be Used Anymore” — The Context They Intentionally Hid

The TikTok video also featured a selectively edited video clip of Dr Jeffrey saying “MA63 can’t be used anymore.”

They twisted this line to make it sound as though he had abandoned the cause — but this is a blatant manipulation.

What Dr Jeffrey actually meant was this:

The MA63 as an original document has already been incorporated into the Federal Constitution.
Therefore, it is no longer a separate agreement that can be “used” in court — but its principles, obligations, and guarantees remain legally binding.

In other words, MA63 has not expired — it lives within the Constitution.

This is precisely why Dr Jeffrey continues to fight through constitutional means, such as Articles 112C and 112D, which protect Sabah’s right to 40% of federal revenue derived from the state.

Taking that quote out of context is a deliberate act of deception — a calculated attempt to confuse the public and distort the truth.

4️⃣ A Desperate Attempt to Silence Dr Jeffrey

This attack through a voice recording is not coincidental.

It is a coordinated political move aimed at discrediting Dr Jeffrey and removing him from the administration — so that his voice can be silenced.

And it comes just days after the Kota Kinabalu High Court ruling — which vindicated Dr Jeffrey’s decades-long struggle, affirming that the Federal Government had unlawfully failed to fulfil Sabah’s 40% entitlement.

That is the real reason behind this sudden smear campaign.

They are desperate to mute Dr Jeffrey — because the truth he fought for is now being confirmed by the courts.

The timing is not a coincidence; it is a calculated move by those who fear losing their control over Sabah.

When truth threatens power, propaganda becomes their last weapon.

Dr Jeffrey’s voice is too influential and too credible to be silenced through facts — so they resort to lies, voice notes, and TikTok manipulation.

📣 Sabah Deserves Truth, Not Propaganda

Dr Jeffrey’s struggle has never wavered.

From the 20 Points to MA63 to the 40% revenue fight, his mission has been consistent: to reclaim what was promised to Sabah in 1963.

The same lies that once imprisoned him are now being recycled through new voices like Dato Victor Paut — because when the truth cannot be defeated, they try to bury it under noise.

But Sabahans today are wiser.

We can see through the recycled propaganda and recognize who truly stands for Sabah’s rights.

Dr Jeffrey Kitingan’s voice is the voice of Sabah — and that is why they want to silence it.

Justice for Sabah. Sabah’s voice will not be muted.
